Meet Morgan

Multilingual Scholar Program Director

EL Instructional Coach

EL Specialist

Morgan is from State College, Pennsylvania. She has two undergraduate degrees in biotechnology and psychology. She served in her Teach for America placement school for 5 years in rural Louisiana where she taught AP Biology, Biology I, Chemistry, Physical Science, Environmental Science, and Geometry. She also taught AP Biology, Physics, and Environmental Science at Tilton School, a boarding school in rural New Hampshire, and then served as a 2nd grade teaching assistant at a private Quaker school in her hometown during the COVID years.

In 2021, she returned to her Teach for America placement school district, Concordia Parish, where she was hired as an EL specialist. Within 2 years, she built the Concordia Parish Multilingual Scholar Program that not only provides direct English instruction, but also embraces student cultures and encourages biliteracy through the Louisiana State Seal of Biliteracy program.

The program has grown from just 40 students in 2021 to over 100 students in 2023. She has seen her classroom teachers struggling to help her EL students, and decided to take action. She is passionate about teaching ESL, but even more passionate about helping teachers learn how to adapt to their lessons to meet the unique needs of their new learners.

If you are a teacher or specialist new to teaching ELs, consider booking a one-to-one coaching session!
